Fondation est une colonie fortifiée construite sur le site d'une attraction touristique d'avant-guerre, il s'agit du quartier général des [[Colons (Fallout 76)|Colons]], un groupe de personnes venues de [[Pittsburgh]] sous la direction de Paige, dans l'espoir d'obtenir un peu de répit face aux horreurs du Nord. À leur arrivée, et après avoir découvert [[Spruce Knob]], ils ont réaménagé les bâtiments existants, défriché les arbres environnants et Fondation fut créée<ref>[[Journal de Paige, entrée 1]]</ref>. Depuis, Fondation est un refuge pour les autres colons des [[Appalaches]] et un ennemie pour les [[Pillards des Appalaches|pillards]] du [[Le Cratère|Cratère]].
